Staying on track

Your body and brain will slowly learn to live without nicotine once again. In the meantime, quitting smoking requires various strategies to get through the tougher times.

Here are a few ideas to help make this change easier to go through and adopting a healthier lifestyle.

1. Keep busy

It’s time to get busy, to go to the movies or to a show, to play outside and visit places for non-smokers!

2. Share online

Share your experience with our Challenge Facebook community and use the testimonials of other ex-smokers for inspiration.

3. Treat yourself!

A good book, a cooking or photography class, a massage, a bouquet of flowers, a ski outing, a tool or the latest gadget... Treat yourself – you truly deserve it. And with the money that used to go towards your cigarettes, you can afford it!

4. Eat better

Take this opportunity to discover new healthful recipes from foreign climes: sushi, couscous, paella... Eat more fruit and vegetables, more whole-grain products, and also drink a lot of water or other low-calorie beverages such as mineral water or herbal tea.

5. Accept encouragements and congratulate yourself

Your family and friends will no doubt be very generous in their encouragement. And you deserve it! Congratulate yourself, because from this point on, your freedom belongs to you. Nevertheless, be on guard and break the habits associated with cigarettes (alcohol, coffee, breaks, after meals, etc.). Don’t lose sight of the reasons why you wanted to quit smoking.
